The research
In this work, the researcher propose a hybrid AVTโFVT approach for optimizing sensor placement in SHM systems [1].

The key idea
๐ก The key idea?
Combine the strengths of:
โข Ambient Vibration Testing (AVT) โ realistic operational conditions
โข Forced Vibration Testing (FVT) โ controlled and informative excitation
By integrating these two perspectives, we developed a robust and energy-based framework to:
โ๏ธ Identify the most informative sensor locations
โ๏ธ Reduce the number of sensors without losing critical information
โ๏ธ Improve reliability in modal identification
๐ The methodology is validated on a real bridge dataset (Z24), showing that a reduced sensor configuration can still preserve the essential dynamic information.
Applications
๐ This is particularly relevant for:
โข Structural health monitoring of bridges and infrastructures
โข Cost-efficient sensor deployment
โข Data-driven engineering approaches
